WHO WE ARE
724 Midland Lions Air Cadet Squadron was formed in 1962 through the joint efforts of F/Lt Gerry Sabourin, the first Commanding Officer of the Squadron, Mr. A. H. Tweedle, Chairman of the Squadron Sponsoring Committee and Mr. J. Burke, President of the Midland Lions Club.
Since the squadron’s inception in 1962, our generous sponsors have always been the Midland Lions Club. The Squadron’s first home was the Midland Armories on Young Street. Later renamed the Midland Civic Center, this building remained the Squadron’s home base on June 2002. After the sale of the Midland Civic Centre, the Squadron found temporary accommodations at the Huronia Municipal Airport. In July 2004, the Squadron moved into its current home, the North Simcoe Sports and Recreational Centre.
The Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers are one of the largest youth groups in Canada. 724 parades Wednesday evenings between September and June. We have a variety of different extracurricular activities. We have a band, Pipes and Drums. Biathlon, Marksmanship & Orienteering Teams. Ground School Training and Effective Speaking/Debate.
